Off the Beaten Path
A funny, heartfelt interactive fantasy musical where live audience choices change the scenes, songs, relationships, and consequences performed that night.
Since 2019, Tory has written, directed, tested, and developed this enormous branching story through more than 100 table reads and four public workshop performances. The newest script supports more than 300 possible versions of the show—full of high-stakes drama, enormous laughs, and genuine heart.

Tory Doctor is a Calgary-based writer, librettist, director, performer, and theatre educator with more than thirty years of professional experience.
His work includes Theatre Calgary, Disney, Cameron Mackintosh productions, Quest Theatre School, and workshops and guest teaching across North America. At Calgary Actors’ Studio, Tory is the Musical Theatre Director for 2026 and has led SummerACT musical theatre programs from 2019 through 2026.
His practice is grounded in curiosity, clarity, and the belief that serious work can still be joyful.
